Congratulations to Temptation USA 119

The 2025 Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race delivered fast conditions, high  drama, and unforgettable moments on the 363-nautical-mile dash to Nova Scotia.

Temptation takes line honours and set new record

Claiming line honours, finishing first and breaking the old record by 45 minutes and 94 seconds on July 7 at 18:52 ADT after a relentless push through sustained winds of 21-27 knots early in the race. With a crew of 19 and expert navigation, they sailed a near-flawless race.

“We wanted to get here first- and we achieved that goal,” – Gary Jobson

“The highlight was calling the layline five miles out -it was a perfect call,” added navigator Hugh Dougherty.

Following Leaders

Just behind Temptation/Oakcliff, Boudicca – Gill Race Team (USA 50085) crossed the line at 19:19, with Scowling Dragon (USA 200) securing third at 19:49. The top finishers demonstrated extraordinary teamwork and navigation under pressure.

From long downwind surfs to intense helm time, the fleet described the race as “exhausting but exhilarating.” One sailor captured the spirit perfectly:

“Fast, fast, fast… slow. Fast, fast, fast… slow.”

And for many, the real prize was crossing the line to clear skies:

“This is the first time in three races I’ve seen Halifax in the sunshine.” – Dawn Riley
