The Participants

Participants in the race have represented over 50 Yacht Clubs from a dozen States and Provinces, most frequently from Atlantic Canada and New England. Skippers and crews hail from as far away as New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, California, Florida, Illinois, Ohio and Texas.

It is expected that approximately 100 yachts ranging in length from 30 ft. to 147 ft. will compete in this year's race, requiring more than 1,000 crewmembers to sail them to Nova Scotia and back.

Festivities and activities run for 3 days at the Boston Yacht Club before the race and for that long again at the Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron upon completion.

Yachting magazines that survey their subscribers report that the large majority of readers are managers/administrators/proprietors or professionals. These target groups enjoy household incomes well above average. Participants come from a broad range of business sectors including high tech, telecom, software development, oil and gas and government. This means that your message will find receptive targets.

Stateside, this race targets the affluent communities from the North to the West of Boston where members of the area Yacht Clubs reside. There is plenty of exposure in the communities surrounding Marblehead as this event draws thousands of spectators on hundreds of boats from area harbors to view the start of this historic race.

Marblehead Harbor is home to two additional large clubs, the Corinthian Yacht Club and the Eastern Yacht Club, along with 3 other smaller clubs. These memberships help to bring additional crews, boats and spectators to an event such as this.
